Child Education

All children, particularly girls from poor and disadvantaged families, should have access to and complete education from pre-primary to secondary levels, realizing their right to inclusive and quality education. However, current realities highlight inequitable access to Early Childhood Education, poor learning outcomes in early grades, learning deficits, discriminatory social norms, gender-stereotyped curricula, and a lack of inclusive, protective environments in schools.

To address these barriers and ensure that all children, especially vulnerable girls from marginalized communities, realize their right to quality education, Plan India has adopted a multipronged approach, which includes:

  • Increasing technical capacity and funding for early childhood education.

  • Enhancing support for teachers and school administration through on-site guidance.

  • Piloting social innovations in gender-sensitive curricula and pedagogy, both inside and outside the classroom.

  • Strengthening technical skills to mobilize and promote education among girls who have dropped out, are irregularly enrolled, or have never enrolled.

  • Creating gender-sensitive models that integrate child protection and sexual and reproductive health (SRH) programs.

  • Advocating for increased investment from governments and donors in girls' education.
